Mao Tse-Tung

Mao Zedong (1893-1976) was a Chinese revolutionary, politician, Marxist theorist, and founding father of the People's Republic of China, serving as its chairman from 1949 to 1959 and leader of the Chinese Communist Party from 1935 until his death.[2][3] He led the communist revolution, implemented sweeping reforms like the Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution, which had disastrous consequences including famines and social upheaval, though he also advanced literacy, women's status, and healthcare.[1][2][4]
