Maitreya, Ananda

Balangoda Ananda Maitreya Thero (1896–1998) was a Sri Lankan Buddhist monk, scholar, and teacher regarded as one of the most distinguished expositors of Theravada Buddhism in the 20th century. He served in major monastic and academic roles, contributed to the Sixth Buddhist Council in Burma, and authored many works on the Buddhist scriptures, monastic discipline, philosophy, and Pali/Sanskrit grammar.
