Lynne Cox

Lynne Cox is an acclaimed American long-distance open-water swimmer, author, and speaker, renowned for her record-breaking swims including the English Channel (twice holding the overall record in 1972 and 1973), the Cook Strait, Strait of Magellan, Cape of Good Hope, and a historic 1987 crossing of the Bering Strait from the US to the Soviet Union that eased Cold War tensions. She also completed a groundbreaking 1.22-mile swim in Antarctica's 32°F waters. Her books include 'Swimming to Antarctica,' 'Grayson,' 'South with the Sun,' and 'Open Swimming Manual.'
