Luis Manuel Guerra
Luis Manuel Guerra is a Mexican chemist graduated from UNAM with a specialty in hazardous waste from Berlin, founder and president for 23 years of the Instituto Autónomo de Investigaciones Ecológicas (INAINE), where he conducted the first independent air quality measurements in Mexico City and created the 'Un día sin auto' program in 1988.[1][6] He has authored books on environmental topics such as 'Agua y Energía' (1988), 'El Aire Nuestro de Cada Día' (1995), and the environmental novel 'El Plan Quetzal' (2008), and hosts long-running radio programs on science and environment including 'Zona Verde' since 1995.[1] He has received prestigious awards like the Premio al Mérito Ecológico 2009 from the Mexican government and the Beyond War Award shared with Gro Harlem Brundtland and Vaclav Havel.[1]
