Lucille Colandro is the author of the bestselling There Was an Old Lady children's book series, illustrated by Jared Lee, beginning with There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bat! written at an editor's request for a non-scary Halloween story. A former high school English teacher in West Pittston, Pennsylvania, and acquisition director at Scholastic Book Club, she holds B.A. and M.A. degrees from Pennsylvania State University and was born in Sacramento, California, to Anthony C. and Marie R. Colandro, later marrying Eugene Santarelli.
