Lucette Valensi

Lucette Valensi (née Lucette Chemla) is a French historian born in Tunis, Tunisia, in 1936, who earned her bachelor's degree in history from the Sorbonne in 1958, became an agrégée in history and geography in 1963, and obtained her doctorate d'État in early modern history in 1974.[1][3] She has taught at the University of Paris-VIII and the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, and is renowned for her works on North African history, Jewish and Muslim experiences, including 'Le Maghreb avant la prise d'Alger' and 'The Last Arab Jews.'[3][5]
