Luc Steels

Luc Steels (born 1952) is a Belgian scientist and artist renowned for his pioneering work in artificial intelligence, including expert systems, behavior-based robotics, artificial life, and evolutionary computational linguistics.[1][2] He studied linguistics at the University of Antwerp and computer science at MIT, founded the AI Lab at VUB in 1983 and the Sony Computer Science Lab in Paris in 1996, and currently serves as ICREA research professor at the Institute for Evolutionary Biology in Barcelona.[2][3][6]
