Lowell Dittmer

Lowell Dittmer was a professor emeritus of political science at the University of California, Berkeley, specializing in Chinese politics, where he served from 1978 until his retirement in 2022 and edited the journal Asian Survey. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1971 and authored or edited numerous works on China's political economy, security, and South Asia's nuclear issues. Dittmer remained an active scholar until his death at age 82.
