Louis Sachar
Louis Sachar is an American author best known for the Wayside School series and the novel Holes, which won the 1998 National Book Award and the 1999 Newbery Medal. Born in East Meadow, New York, he moved to Southern California as a child, attended the University of California at Berkeley, worked as a teacher's aide inspiring his first book Sideways Stories from Wayside School, graduated law school in 1980, practiced law part-time, and became a full-time writer by 1989.[1][2][5]
