Louis Menand

Louis Menand is an American critic, essayist, and professor born on January 21, 1952, in Syracuse, New York, who won the 2002 Pulitzer Prize for History for his book The Metaphysical Club. He is a longtime staff writer for The New Yorker and currently serves as the Anne T. and Robert M. Bass Professor of English at Harvard University. His work focuses on 19th and 20th century cultural history, including his acclaimed book The Free World: Art and Thought in the Cold War.
