Louis Edward Nolan

Louis Edward Nolan (1818-1854) was a British Army officer and cavalry tactician best known for his role in the Charge of the Light Brigade during the Crimean War, where he was killed while delivering orders. He served in the Austrian and British armies, and authored two influential books on cavalry theory and horsemanship, including 'Cavalry: Its History and Tactics' (1853), which led to the adoption of his designed saddle by the British Army.
