Lorenzo Albacete

Lorenzo Manuel Albacete Cintrón (1941–2014) was a Puerto Rican priest, theologian, physicist, author, and prominent figure in the Communion and Liberation movement. Initially trained in space science and applied physics, he worked in aerospace research before a pivotal 1968 encounter with Pope Paul VI inspired his vocation to the priesthood; he was ordained in 1973 for the Archdiocese of Washington. He served as an advisor on Hispanic affairs for the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, co-founded the John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family, taught theology, and briefly led the Catholic University of Puerto Rico.
