Liyakat Takim

Liyakat Takim is the Sharjah Chair in Global Islam and Professor at McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada. A native of Zanzibar, Tanzania, he earned his Ph.D. in History of Religions from the School of Oriental and African Studies, London, and has authored over one hundred scholarly works on topics including Islamic law, Shi'ism in America, reformation in the Islamic world, and mystical traditions. He has spoken at more than eighty academic conferences and teaches courses on Islam and comparative religions.
