Linda Ty-Casper

Linda Ty-Casper, born Belinda Francisca Velasquez Ty in Manila, Philippines, on September 17, 1931, is a celebrated Filipino novelist renowned for her historical fiction depicting the Philippines' struggles for independence against Spanish colonialism, American occupation, World War II, and the Marcos dictatorship. She earned degrees from the University of the Philippines (AA 1951, LL.B. 1955) and Harvard University (LL.M. 1957), married critic Leonard R. Casper in 1956, and has two daughters while residing in Massachusetts. Over four decades, she authored eleven novels and three short story collections, earning awards like the SEA WRITE, Rockefeller, and Radcliffe Fellowship.[1][2][3]
