Lillian Morrison
Lillian Morrison (1917-2014) was an American children's poet, librarian, and anthologist known for her collections of folk rhymes, chants, and sports poetry, inspired by her work at the New York Public Library where she served over 40 years as Coordinator of Young Adult Services. She authored original verse books like The Sidewalk Racer and Other Poems of Sports and Motion and compiled anthologies such as Sprints and Distances, earning the ALA Grolier Award in 1987 for stimulating young readers' interest. Her papers are housed at the University of Southern Mississippi's de Grummond Collection.
