Lillian Hoban

Lillian Hoban was an American children's book illustrator and writer best known for the Arthur the chimpanzee series and for illustrating the Frances books by Russell Hoban. Born in Philadelphia, she studied at the Philadelphia Museum School of Art, worked as a professional dancer, and later began writing and illustrating children's stories after having children.
