Lillian Allen
Lillian Allen is a groundbreaking Canadian dub poet, spoken word performer, playwright, and educator recognized as a godmother of dub poetry, rap, and spoken word. Born in Spanish Town, Jamaica, she emigrated to Canada in 1969 and later settled in Toronto, where she became a two-time Juno Award winner and a professor at OCAD University. Her work is celebrated for its fusion of vernacular language, political content, and feminist themes, often set to music.
