Lewis B Patten

Lewis Byford Patten was an American Western author born in Denver, Colorado, who began writing in 1949 after serving in the US Navy and working for the Colorado Department of Revenue. He published 98 Western novels and numerous short stories, often under pseudonyms like Lewis Ford, Len Leighton, and Joseph Wayne (in collaboration with Wayne D. Overholser), winning Spur Awards in 1968 for 'The Red Sabbath' and 1972 for 'A Killing in Kiowa,' as well as the Golden Saddleman's Award in 1979.
