Leslie Newbigin

James Edward Lesslie Newbigin (1909–1998) was a British theologian, missiologist, missionary, and author best known for his work in India and for helping shape modern ecumenical and missionary theology. After serving as a Presbyterian missionary and later a bishop in the Church of South India, he became a major public theologian, especially through books such as 'The Open Secret' and 'The Gospel in a Pluralist Society.'
