Leslie Marmon Silko
Leslie Marmon Silko is an acclaimed American writer of Laguna Pueblo, Mexican, and Anglo heritage, recognized as a key figure in the Native American Renaissance. Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and raised near the Laguna Pueblo, she earned a BA in English from the University of New Mexico in 1969 and is best known for her novel *Ceremony* (1977), which explores themes of cultural dissonance and Native healing traditions. She has received numerous awards, including a MacArthur Fellowship in 1981, and continues to live in Tucson, Arizona.
