Leslie Frank
Frank Leslie, born Henry Carter, was a British-American illustrator, engraver, and publisher who pioneered illustrated journalism in the United States. He emigrated to New York in 1853, founded successful periodicals like Frank Leslie’s Illustrated Newspaper in 1855, and introduced innovative wood engraving techniques. He died in 1880, after which his wife Miriam Leslie took on his name and managed the publishing empire.
