Leonid Hurwicz

Leonid Hurwicz was a Russian-born American economist and mathematician best known for laying the foundations of mechanism design theory, work that earned him the 2007 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences.[1][2] Born in Moscow in 1917, he later studied in Warsaw and spent much of his academic career in the United States, including at the University of Minnesota.[2][3]
