Leo Kessler
Leo Kessler was the pseudonym of British author Charles Henry Whiting, a prolific writer of military fiction and history who produced around 350 books under various names during the 1970s paperback boom. Best known for his violent, sensational SS Wotan series depicting an elite Nazi battle group, the pen name originated as an in-joke pun on publisher Leo Cooper's name and rival author Sven Hassel, evolving into 'Kessler' meaning 'kettle maker' in German. Whiting wrote as Kessler until his death, with his final novel under the name published as an ebook titled Some Desperate Glory.
