Leland Bardwell
Constance Olive Leland Bardwell (1922–2016) was an Irish poet, novelist, playwright, and editor, born in Chennai, India, to Irish parents and raised in Leixlip, County Kildare. She immersed herself in bohemian literary circles in London and Dublin, befriending figures like Patrick Kavanagh and Michael Hartnett, and co-founded the poetry magazine Cyphers while becoming a founding member of Aosdána. Bardwell authored five poetry collections, five novels, short stories, memoirs, and numerous plays, with her work translated into several languages.
