Lee Harper

Nelle Harper Lee (1926–2016) was an American novelist best known for her Pulitzer Prize-winning novel *To Kill a Mockingbird* (1960), a classic exploring racial injustice and moral growth in the American South. Born and raised in Monroeville, Alabama, she assisted childhood friend Truman Capote with research for *In Cold Blood* and later published *Go Set a Watchman* (2015) and a posthumous collection *The Land of Sweet Forever* (2025). She largely withdrew from public life after her debut success, prioritizing privacy.
