Laurence Wylie
Laurence William Wylie (1909–1995) was a distinguished American scholar and professor of French civilization at Harvard University. During his 50-year career spanning sociology, anthropology, and French studies, he sought to improve Americans' understanding of France through his teaching and research. He is best known for his ethnographic work 'Village in the Vaucluse,' based on his year-long study of a Provençal village in 1950.
