Laurence J. N. Cooper

Laurence J.N. Cooper, M.D., Ph.D., is a physician-scientist specializing in cancer immunotherapy, serving as a visiting scientist at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and former CEO of ZIOPHARM Oncology. He graduated from Kenyon College in 1986, earned his M.D. and Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University, completed residency at the University of Washington Children’s Hospital, and finished with a fellowship at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Dr. Cooper has pioneered adoptive T-cell therapies for lymphoma and leukemia, holding nearly 100 patents in immunotherapy and gene therapy.
