Laura Devetach

María Laura Devetach (born October 5, 1936, in Reconquista, Santa Fe, Argentina) is a renowned Argentine writer, poet, narrator, and educator, best known for her extensive body of work in children's literature, including over ninety books, poetry, theater, and radio/television scripts. Born to a Slovenian immigrant father and an Argentine mother, she has also worked as a teacher, journalist, and coordinator of creative writing workshops, with her books banned during Argentina's 1976-1983 military dictatorship. She was married to writer Gustavo Roldán until his death in 2012.
