Lafcadio Hearn
Patrick Lafcadio Hearn (1850–1904), also known as Koizumi Yakumo, was a British-born writer, translator, and teacher who introduced the culture and literature of Japan to the West[3]. He led a colorful and adventurous life as a journalist and writer, having been born on the island of Lefkas in Greece to a British Army sergeant major and a local Greek woman[2]. His notable works include collections of Japanese legends and ghost stories such as Kwaidan, and he also wrote extensively about New Orleans and Creole life[7].
