Lady Duff Gordon
Lucy Christiana, Lady Duff-Gordon (née Sutherland; 1863–1935) was a pioneering British fashion designer known professionally as Lucile, who achieved international acclaim for her innovative couture in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.[2][6] She opened her first salon, Maison Lucile, in London in 1893, expanded to New York, Paris, and Chicago, and revolutionized the industry by creating the mannequin parade, training professional models, and promoting less restrictive garments like slit skirts and low necklines.[3][4] A survivor of the Titanic disaster in 1912, she dressed royalty, nobility, and film stars while writing fashion columns for major publications.[1][5]
