Laban Hinton
Alexander Laban Hinton is an American anthropologist specializing in genocide, mass violence, extremism, transitional justice, and human rights, with extensive work on the Cambodian genocide.[1][2] He has authored numerous books, including *Why Did They Kill? Cambodia in the Shadow of Genocide* and *Man or Monster? The Trial of a Khmer Rouge Torturer*, and served as an expert witness at the Khmer Rouge Tribunal in 2016.[1][2][5] As of 2023, he is Director of the Center for the Study of Genocide and Human Rights, Distinguished Professor of Anthropology, and UNESCO Chair in Genocide Prevention at Rutgers University.[1]
