Kwame Alexander

Kwame Alexander is a #1 New York Times bestselling author, poet, educator, publisher, and producer known for his young adult and children's fiction, including the Newbery Medal-winning novel *The Crossover* (2014). Born in New York City on August 21, 1968, he grew up in Virginia surrounded by books, with a scholar father and educator mother, and founded the Versify imprint and literacy nonprofit One Word at a Time.
