Komako Sakai

Komako Sakai is a Japanese author and illustrator born in Hyogo, Japan, in 1966. She graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music and initially worked as a textile designer before becoming one of Japan's most popular creators of children's picture books. Her works, such as Emily's Balloon and The Snow Day, have received international acclaim and awards including the Japan Picture Book Prize.
