Knight of Glin

Desmond John Villiers FitzGerald (1937–2011) was the 29th Knight of Glin, a hereditary title held by the FitzGerald family of County Limerick, Ireland, since the early 14th century. A scholar, conservationist, fine arts dealer, collector, and president of the Irish Georgian Society, he was also an art historian who resided at Glin Castle on the River Shannon. He died from cancer at age 74 with no son to inherit the title, causing it to become dormant.[2][3][4][6][7]
