Kirk Hazen
Kirk Hazen is a Professor of Linguistics at West Virginia University, where he directs the West Virginia Dialect Project established in 1998, focusing on research in American English, particularly Appalachian and Southern dialects. He earned his Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1997, an M.A. from North Carolina State University, and a B.A. from Clemson University. Hazen teaches courses on English in Appalachia and the History of the English Language, and has received multiple Sigma Tau Delta Outstanding Teacher Awards.
