Kevin Henkes

Kevin Henkes is an American author and illustrator of children's books, best known for his picture books featuring anthropomorphic mice characters such as Lilly and Owen. Born in Racine, Wisconsin, he decided in high school to pursue writing and illustrating children's books, moved to New York after his freshman year of college to find a publisher, and published his first book, All Alone, in 1981. His works have earned prestigious awards including the Caldecott Medal for Kitten's First Full Moon (2004) and multiple honors.
