Kerry Young

Kerry Young was born in Kingston, Jamaica, to a Chinese father and a mother of mixed Chinese-African heritage, and moved to England in 1965 at the age of ten.[2][3][6] She has a Master's in organization development from Loughborough University, a PhD in youth work from De Montfort University, and an MA in Creative Writing from Nottingham Trent University, with a background in youth work and non-fiction writing.[2][5] Her novels, including the Costa-shortlisted Pao (2011), Gloria (2013), and Show Me a Mountain (2016), are set in Jamaica and explore themes of race, class, gender, and social change.[1][3][4]
