Ken Coates

Ken Coates (born 1956) is a Canadian historian specializing in the history of the Canadian North, Aboriginal rights, indigenous claims, Arctic sovereignty, and relations between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.[1][3] He has authored over 30 books on these topics and held prominent academic positions, including Canada Research Chair in Regional Innovation at the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy, University of Saskatchewan, and previous roles as Dean at the University of Waterloo, University of Saskatchewan, and University of New Brunswick.[1][4][6] Elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 2015, Coates earned his BA and PhD from the University of British Columbia and MA from the University of Manitoba.[1][4]
