Keith Waterhouse
Keith Spencer Waterhouse CBE (6 February 1929 – 4 September 2009) was a prominent British novelist, playwright, journalist, and television writer known for blending social commentary with comedy and satire, particularly in depictions of working-class life[1][2]. His most acclaimed work is the novel Billy Liar (1959), which he adapted into a play and film, and he was also celebrated for his newspaper columns and linguistic writings in the Daily Mirror and Daily Mail[1][3][5]. Waterhouse was appointed CBE in 1991 and elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature[5].
