Katya Arnold
Katya Arnold, born in 1947 in Moscow, Russia, is a fine artist, illustrator, and author of children's books who studied at the Moscow Polygraph Institute, earning an M.A. in 1971. Her artwork was deemed dissident by Soviet authorities, leading to its destruction in a bulldozed open-air exhibit, after which she immigrated to the United States and became known for retelling Russian folktales like Baba Yaga and authoring works such as Katya's Book of Mushrooms. She continues to paint, teach art, and pursue interests in mushroom hunting, gardening, and cooking.
