Kathryn Stockett
Kathryn Stockett is an American novelist born in Jackson, Mississippi, best known for her debut novel *The Help* (2009), set in 1960s Jackson and exploring relationships between African American maids and their white employers, which became a massive bestseller and was adapted into a film.[1][2] She graduated from the University of Alabama with degrees in English and creative writing, worked in magazine publishing in New York City, and now resides in Atlanta.[1][2][4] Stockett is divorced with one daughter.[2][4]
