Kathleen Pitt

Kathleen Elizabeth George (born July 7, 1943) is an American professor of theatre arts at the University of Pittsburgh and acclaimed author best known for her series of crime novels set in Pittsburgh, including Taken, Fallen, Afterimage, The Odds (Edgar nominee), Hideout, Simple, and A Measure of Blood. Born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, she has also written The Johnstown Girls about the Johnstown Flood, The Blues Walked In about Lena Horne and jazz, the short story collection The Man in the Buick, and edited Pittsburgh Noir. She holds degrees from the University of Pittsburgh, including a Ph.D. in theatre arts and an M.F.A. in creative writing.
