Kathleen Duey

Kathleen Duey (1950–2020) was a prolific American author of over 70 children's and young adult books, including historical fiction series like American Diaries and Survivors, fantasy works such as Skin Hunger (a National Book Award finalist), and chapter books like The Unicorn's Secret.[1][2][4][5][7] She began writing in the early 1990s after years of off-the-grid living and subsistence farming, and was known for her generosity as a teacher and mentor.[3][5] Duey lived in Fallbrook, California, at the time of her death from cardiac arrest on June 26, 2020.[4][5][8]
