Kate L. Turabian
Kate L. Turabian (1893–1987) was an American educator and the graduate school dissertation secretary at the University of Chicago from 1930 to 1958. In 1937, she wrote a small pamphlet describing the university's required style for writing dissertations, which eventually became her seminal work A Manual for Writers of Research Papers, Theses, and Dissertations, selling over nine million copies across nine editions. She is best known for establishing the Turabian citation style, which remains widely used in academic writing.
