Kate Banks
Kate Banks (1960–2024) was an acclaimed American children's author known for her lyrical, clever, and graceful prose that often explored themes of animals and the natural world. She wrote over 50 books for young readers, ranging from picture books to young adult novels, and received multiple awards including the Boston Globe–Horn Book Award and the Charlotte Zolotow Award. Banks passed away on February 24, 2024, in Basel, Switzerland, following a long illness.
