Kate Atkinson
Kate Atkinson is an English novelist born in York on 20 December 1951, known for her historical novels, detective fiction, and family stories incorporating postmodern and magical realist elements. Her debut novel *Behind the Scenes at the Museum* (1995) won the Whitbread Book of the Year Award, and she has since authored acclaimed works like *Life After Life* (2013) and the Jackson Brodie crime series, several adapted for television. She studied English literature at the University of Dundee, earning a master's degree, and was appointed MBE.
