Karl Schutz
Karl Schutz was an Austrian art historian and curator who studied art history and archaeology at the University of Vienna before joining the Gemäldegalerie of the Kunsthistorisches Museum in 1972, where he served as curator and later as director from 1990 to 2011. His scholarly interests focused on Netherlandish and Flemish painting, early 16th-century German painting, courtly portraiture, and the history of the museum's collection.
