Karl Jaspers

Karl Jaspers was a German philosopher and psychiatrist who became one of the leading figures associated with existentialism in Germany. His influential 1913 work, *General Psychopathology*, helped shape modern psychiatry, and his later philosophy emphasized human freedom, existence, and the search for truth after the upheavals of Nazi rule and World War II.
