Kai Kupferschmidt

Kai Kupferschmidt, born in 1982 in Bonn, Germany, is a Berlin-based science journalist specializing in infectious diseases, having covered major outbreaks like Ebola, COVID-19, and mpox for Science magazine and German outlets such as Süddeutsche Zeitung and Die Zeit. He studied molecular biomedicine at the University of Bonn and trained at the Berlin Journalism School, co-hosts the podcast 'Pandemia,' and has authored books including one on infections and 'Blue: In Search of Nature’s Rarest Color.' Kupferschmidt has received awards like the Journalism Award of the German Aids Foundation.
