K. Thalia Grant

K. Thalia Grant is a Canadian naturalist and author known for her extensive research in the Galápagos Islands, where she first visited as a child of six accompanying her parents, Peter and Rosemary Grant, during their long-term study of Darwin’s finches. Between 1973 and 1996, she made annual visits to the islands for 2 to 6 months, assisting with her parents’ field research and conducting her own ecological studies. With her husband Gregory B. Estes, she retraced Charles Darwin’s 1835 footsteps through the Galápagos, publishing their findings in 'Notes and Records of the Royal Society' (2000) and the book 'Darwin in Galápagos: Footsteps to a New World' (Princeton University Press, 2009).
